I bought my first go kart that's in pretty bad shape that I thought only needed an engine to run. I am having problem after problem and I need help making it run.
I bought a new motor, predator 212 hemi, but I am not sure how to connect it to run the tires. It came with some type of torque converter that does not work. I am not sure what I need to do regarding replacement parts because of the set up on this particular kart. A regular torque converter doesn't seem like it would work because the current blue driven pully seems pretty far away.
Also, the plate by the wheel with the sprocket is too small for me to mount the engine there. ugh. So many problems with this kart.
Please help me out as I want to get it running for my boys.
Let me know if I can provide you with any more information and I will do my best to explain as I am a novice.

Possibly 30 but unlikely.

The belt is definitely wrong. It's a belt from the auto parts store.
Is my pulley set-up right? If so, do you know where I could get replacement parts? I would need to get both new pulleys and a belt.
The link you provided showed me that I have a symmetric set up. However, the distance between both pulleys is 9 inches. I guess that is the center distance. I am not sure how to choose the right belt.

Click the other picture in the link, the measurement you need is from the center of each shaft the pulleys are on.

Thank you.
I measured my driven pulley and it is an 8 inch diameter. The link only shows 6 and 7 inch diameter for the driven pulley. Am I doing something wrong or did i mismeasure my driven pulley? are there 8 inch driven pulleys?

It's a off road vehicle.
Not a racing kart.

For one this is a kart racing site, and not a yard cart site.
You may need to go find a site for yard carts to get more information.

I have a yard kart kind of like that. We removed the torque converter, put a max torque clutch on the engine. Mounted engine where the converter mounted and ran a chain from the drive wheel to the engine. We also fabricated some old pocket bike brakes to the non drive wheel for stopping power. The only issue was the left rear became the burnout tire. And to date that kart I would say it was probably built in the 60s-70s and probably had a 5hp tec*mseh on it.

I appreciate all the help and the information. I have an idea on how to make the kart run. Hopefully it works.

Side Note: 98% of the people on this site are glad to help you, anyway they can. Don't worry about the other 2A%, with nothing better to do, than complain about how this is not a yard kart site.

It's simple really. Get the correct belt . Adjust as needed . Adjust drive chain too suit .
Raise the engine if needed too help with adjustments.
